The goal of the OSO Music Education Outreach Program is to bring classical music to public schools through concerts and music education, instrument lessons and ensemble coaching. The OSO performs a total of four concerts during the year in New York City schools that are of high disadvantage. World renowned soloists will take part in outreach concerts during the 2010-2011 year in order to share their musical expertise and experience with young students.

Also, musicians from the orchestra will take part in an after-school program that is focused on teaching 20-30 underprivileged students to play a musical instrument. The goal is to create a school symphony orchestra within a two year period and reinstate ensemble playing in schools where music programs have been discontinued.
